Radical Democrat Robert Francis O’Rourke (better known as Beto) suffered a decisive defeat on Tuesday night, as voters rejected his radicalism in favor of the strong Republican vision of incumbent Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX).
O’Rourke, who had the support of the radical fringes of the Democrat Party, rose to prominence after running a competitive race against Texas Senator Ted Cruz. This gave Beto the notoriety he needed to launch a Presidential Campaign in 2020. Of course, Beto’s Presidential Campaign was an unmitigated disaster, one that mimics quite nicely his disastrous showing tonight.
Beto was simply too radical for Texas and his remarks during the 2020 election may have helped sink him in the eyes of the Texas voters. After all, this is the same Beto O’Rourke who said he wanted to take away AR-15’s. He said this in Texas, no less!
All in all, Beto was no fit for Texas. While we await the results, one thing is clear: there is no reason for Beto to be in the national conversation anymore. After three major losses on the biggest stage, it is clear voters have rejected all that O’Rourke has to offer.
