Chick-fil-A is introducing a fresh take on its signature chicken sandwich for a short period.
From Aug. 28, the Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich will be available for purchase at Chick-fil-A outlets throughout the country, as long as stocks endure.
This sandwich incorporates the familiar breaded chicken filet of the standard Chick-fil-A offering but is topped with a layer of pimento cheese and a touch of honey. Instead of the traditional pickles, this version has pickled jalapenos.
For over ten years, Chick-fil-A has launched seasonal offerings, including various milkshake tastes. The introduction of the Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich is indicative of the brand’s evolving menu approach as it grows across the nation. Unlike several of its competitors in the fast-food domain, Chick-fil-A has aimed to maintain a concise and straightforward menu, optimizing the productivity of its kitchens and drive-thrus.
Despite its succinct menu, Chick-fil-A has climbed the ranks to become the third-largest restaurant chain in the U.S. in terms of sales, surpassed only by Starbucks and McDonald’s. As per franchise disclosure papers, Chick-fil-A witnessed an 11% growth in revenue, reaching $6.37 billion in 2022. The company, headquartered in Atlanta, remains in the hands of its founder, S. Truett Cathy’s family.
The development of the Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich spanned five years and was spearheaded by Stuart Tracy, Chick-fil-A’s chief culinary expert. Charged with innovating their classic chicken sandwich, Tracy and his team brainstormed almost 30 different taste variations over a year. The sandwich underwent a test run in Asheville, North Carolina, and the upstate regions of South Carolina in 2020.While Tracy hasn’t dismissed the idea of the sandwich becoming a permanent fixture, the brand will gauge feedback from patrons and franchise holders once stock depletes, to determine its return.
Additionally, a new seasonal treat will grace Chick-fil-A’s autumn offerings: the Caramel Crumble Milkshake. A delightful blend of butterscotch caramel notes paired with blondie pieces, this shake was trialed in Salt Lake City in 2021.
