Former second gentleman Doug Emhoff is planning to return to his legal career following his wife’s 2024 presidential election loss.
Former Vice President Kamala Harris‘s husband will be joining the law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher as a partner. He specializes in entertainment law and corporate law.
Following Harris’s failed presidential bid, speculation over where the vice president will land has had some politicos speculating whether she could run for governor in California, where she had previously served as a U.S. senator.
The former vice president and her husband were recently spotted touring a $20,000-a-month apartment on New York’s Upper West Side following moving out of the U.S. Naval Observatory. Emhoff will be working in both Los Angeles and New York for his new firm.
The only property the couple currently owns is a home in Brentwood, California that her husband bought in 2012, two years before they married.
Recent rumors about the former Democratic presidential nominee’s future have suggested that she is looking to write books about her time in politics as well as her interests in cooking.
One report last week claimed that Harris was mulling whether her husband had been a “dead weight” on her campaign. The following day after the report, the couple was seen grocery shopping together in Westwood, California.
Harris and Emhoff have been seen showing support for emergency relief workers in the Los Angeles fires.
According to New York magazine, Harris recently has been seeking advice from former first lady Hillary Clinton on how to cope with her defeat to Republican rival President Donald Trump.
