President Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Sunday night to declare that the Republican Party has “never been so UNITED AS IT IS RIGHT NOW!” and is far larger and stronger than when he first launched his political movement in 2015.
In a characteristically blunt post, the president acknowledged a few specific disagreements but framed them as minor exceptions in an otherwise cohesive party. He pointed to “great spirit and cohesion” across the GOP, crediting the party with delivering “the Strongest Border EVER, Biggest Tax Cuts, the Best Economy, [and] Highest Stock Market in USA History.”
Trump did single out three Republican lawmakers by name who have recently broken with him on major issues:
- Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), a longtime critic of expansive government spending and foreign intervention
- Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), whom Trump jokingly nicknamed “Rand Paul Jr.” for their similar libertarian-leaning views
- Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), the outgoing congresswoman whose relationship with Trump collapsed over the past month
“Other than Rand Paul, Rand Paul Jr. (Massie!), Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown, and a couple of other lowlifes,” Trump wrote, “and other than the fact that many want the Election-threatening Filibuster TERMINATED (the Dems will do it in the first minute of their first chance!), and some don’t, there is great spirit and cohesion.”
The president’s sharp words for Greene follow her surprise announcement last week that she will resign from Congress in January. Once one of Trump’s most vocal defenders, Greene had begun publicly challenging the administration on tariffs, inflation numbers, U.S.-Israel policy, and the handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files. Trump withdrew his endorsement and accused her of drifting leftward, while Greene described the current political system as a “Political Industrial Complex” that uses division to keep power but rarely improves life for average Americans.
Despite the very public split, Trump’s broader message Sunday night focused on strength and growth: “The Republican Party is MUCH BIGGER than it was when I announced in 2015… Many Millions More Members!” He ended on an optimistic note: “THE BEST IS YET TO COME! VOTE REPUBLICAN!!!”
Sources close to Greene say she has privately discussed a possible 2028 presidential run, which could position her as an independent or third-party challenger if she follows through.
For now, Trump and most Republican leaders insist the party remains tightly aligned behind the president’s agenda, with only a small number of outspoken dissenters on the edges. As Congress prepares to tackle border security, tax policy, and government funding in the coming weeks, the GOP’s ability to project that unity will be put to the test.
