Joe Biden Visits Ukraine Before East Palestine, Ohio.

Joe Biden took a 20-hour flight to Kyiv to make a surprise appearance in Ukraine on Monday

Joe Biden arrived in Kyiv, Ukraine, at 8 am Monday morning. Once on the ground, Biden met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the Mariinsky Palace. During his meeting with Zelenskyy, Biden announced Ukraine would receive another half billion dollars from the United States. The United States has provided Ukraine with 113 billion dollars worth of aid since the start of the Russian-Ukrainian War.

White House National Security Adviser, Jake Sullivan, told the press Monday: “We did notify the Russians that President Biden will be traveling to Kyiv. We did so some hours before his departure for deconfliction purposes.”

When the news of Biden’s trip to Ukraine became official, Americans took to Twitter to highlight their displeasure with Biden for visiting Ukraine before visiting Americans in East Palestine, Ohio.

East Palestine was devastated by a train derailment and subsequent chemical release earlier this month. The chemical release forced towns like Cincinnati, which sits over 200 miles down the river from East Palestine, to close off the Ohio River for drinking water. Meanwhile, residents in the East Palestine area have been highlighting the deteriorating air and water conditions since the chemical release.

Last Thursday, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced that the Biden Administration denied Ohio’s request for aid. Then hours after President Trump announced he would be visiting East Palestine, Ohio, the Biden Administration decided to do an about-face and approve Ohio’s disaster request.

President Trump will be visiting East Palestine, Ohio, on Wednesday. Joe Biden has still not announced when or if he will visit the Ohio town.
