Tucker Carlson gave his first long form interview since leaving Fox News to comedian and activist Russell Brand
Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson gave his first long form interview since leaving the network to English actor, comedian, and activist Richard Brand.
Carlson, who sported an extreme sun tan during the interview, spoke to Brand for more than an hour on the Friday episode of the comedian’s podcast on Rumble, discussing a variety of topics that ranged from his departure from Fox News to his current opinion of 45th President Donald Trump and Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
At one point, Carlson revealed that Fox News fired him before he could air an interview with the the chief of Capitol Police, who claimed the crowd on January 6 was “filled with federal agents.”
Carlson also suggested the importance of Trump on the American political stage cannot be understated, and may not be fully understood for another decade or more.
“I think looking back on this ten years from now, assuming we’re still around, I think we’re going to see Trump’s emergence as the most significant thing that happened in American politics in 100 years,” said Carlson.
Explaining his admiration for Trump’s foreign policy views, Carlson noted, “You know Trump is the only person with stature in the Republican Party really who is saying wait a second why are we sending an endless war in Ukraine.”
“Whether he gets the nomination or gets elected, words really matter,” Carlson said, summarizing his support for Trump. “Saying something true out loud matters, and he is saying true things about Ukraine and God bless him. That’s how I feel.”
Carlson also explained why he chose to take his programming to Twitter, where his “Tucker on Twitter” monologues have racked up hundreds of millions of views.
“I’m not working for Elon Musk,” said Carlson, noting he would decline such an offer if presented. “What he’s done is offered me what he’s offered every other user at Twitter, which is a chance to broadcast your views without a gatekeeper.”
The full interview is available on Brand’s Rumble channel, with an additional questions and answers portion behind the comedian’s paywall on Locals.
