Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Whines About Donald Trump’s ‘Weaponization’ of Government Against Democrats

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is whining about President Donald Trump’s “weaponization” of government against the Democrats and other political opponents.

DeSantis made the bizarre comments in an interview with RealClearPolitics last week.

“Trump is fine with weaponization if it’s against people he doesn’t like,” DeSantis said, referencing a pro-Trump PAC’s complaint against DeSantis for running a shadow presidential campaign that was in apparent violation of Florida law earlier this year.

DeSantis blamed Trump even though it is illegal for Trump as a candidate to have any coordination with a Super PAC. Additionally, journalist Laura Loomer exposed how the complaint against DeSantis’ shadow campaign had merit:

Journalist Laura Loomer is blowing the whistle on the “shadow presidential campaign” of Ron DeSantis in which the Florida governor is touring the country, hitting crucial primary states, and apparently flouting Florida law in doing so.

DeSantis is running his shadow presidential campaign while it is illegal for state officials in Florida to run for “federal public office” while holding their position under the state’s “Resign to Run Law.” This law was put into place to ensure that Florida lawmakers would be responsive to the people they serve and not be allowed to cut and run on their constituents to pursue their own self-serving ambitions.

The text of the law, Florida Statutes Chapter 99.012 (4)(a), reads,“Any officer who qualifies for federal public office must resign from the office he or she presently holds if the terms, or any part thereof, run currently with each other.”

DeSantis is aggressively lobbying to have that law repealed so he can remain governor while running for the presidency in 2024. He is currently conducting his shadow presidential run under false pretenses while he and his allies work frantically behind the scenes to manipulate the process and have the “Resign to Run Law” rescinded…
