Through a frequently used loophole in President Biden’s much-lauded border controls, economic migrants are sending so many more teenagers and kids into the U.S.
Despite the risk and exploitation detailed in a recent NY Times piece, foreign minors who want to work in the country’s rapidly expanding juvenile workforce have long taken advantage of the Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) loophole.
In order to give some legal status to a small number of minors that were trafficked into the country and used as underage prostitutes, the UAC gateway was established in 2008.
The Los Angeles Times gave a sympathetic account of immigrant parents who are currently utilizing the exception to get around Biden’s new regulations.
The migrants attempt to sign up for Biden’s new “parole pathway” on the “CBP” One mobile app before anything else. However, not all immigrants enter through this dubious route, which is offered as a sort of legal bait to discourage immigrants from crossing the border without authorization.
In order to get their children into the country via the UAC pathway, families first utilize the CBP One app to get their parents into the country. The families are later reunited in a city of the parents’ choosing at taxpayer expense.
According to The Los Angeles Times:
“According to advocates, some parents are choosing to leave their kids in [Mexico] with extended family or friends while still attending their CBP visits. Another couple from the tent camp, according to Jeyson [a Venezuelan immigrant], did exactly that, abandoning their five children at the border bridge and entering the United States after only being able to secure two appointments.”

“The separated youngsters came up to a border agent and were taken into custody in the U.S.,” according to Jeyson, a Venezuelan immigrant, who told the newspaper that he witnessed it.
An interview with Priscilla Orta, an attorney with the Lawyers for Good Government advocacy organization, was published on February 21 by MyRGV.com:
“About a dozen people crossed on Monday, according to Orta, but by that point, all of them had already dispatched their children as unaccompanied minors without them.”
According to a February 27 story from Reuters, “Dozens of immigrant families are splitting at Mexico’s northern border,” and “The 15-year-old chose to turn himself in at the border as a UAC since his pregnant mother could only arrange a single appointment.”
The head of the Center for Immigration Studies, Mark Krikorian, “argued that it makes sense because individuals will act on the incentive that Biden provided.”
Along with other unauthorized, authorized, and questionably authorized inflows, Mayorkas permitted 21,600 UACs into the U.S. in December and January. About 75% of the UACs are young adults who are prepared for the workforce.
Before they reach the border with the United States, the Mexican government allegedly intercepts and deports other UACs.
As numerous media outlets highlight the assertions made by business-backed advocacy organizations that Biden’s new border policy is cruel and exclusive, the migrants’ increasing exploitation of the plainly visible UAC loophole coincides with this assertion.
