British author JK Rowling has continued targeting Hamas on social media following the Palestinian terror group’s brutal invasion of Israel earlier this month, describing Hamas’ kidnapping of children as “despicable.”
Rowling, who wrote the acclaimed Harry Potter series, shared a photo on X/Twitter of a 12-year-old Israeli girl named Noya dressed as a Harry Potter character. In the image, Noya smiles at the camera while holding a pretend wand and a book from Rowling’s fantasy series.
Noya, who is autistic, was kidnapped from her home by Hamas terrorists and taken to the Gaza Strip. Her photo was originally shared on social media by the state of Israel’s official Twitter account and then shared again by Rowling.
“Kidnapping children is despicable and wholly unjustifiable,” the author wrote. “For obvious reasons, this picture has hit home with me. May Noya and all hostages taken by Hamas be returned soon, safely, to their families.”

Rowling has spoken out on social media several times against Hamas’ brutal attacks against Israeli civilians since the terror group’s onslaught began on Oct. 7. In various posts, she called for more outrage in the United Kingdom against Hamas’ invasion; said the rape, murder, and torture carried out by Hamas cannot be justified; and reposted messages slamming “Free Palestine” protests that have been taking place amid the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.
