Obama And Biden Form A New Friendship Nobody Saw Coming

The ex President Barack Obama vocally supported Joe Biden last week despite Democrats growing disenchanted with his 2024 campaign.

In an online post, Obama shared a video of Joe Biden celebrating the 15 year mark of their 2008 election victory – the night Barack Obama made history as the first African American president with Joe Biden as his deputy.

“For eight years, [Biden] and I worked to bring about positive change for the people of America. I couldn’t have asked for a better partner and friend – and we’ll be forever thankful to the entire campaign team and Administration who aided that progress across the country. We did it. We succeeded,” Obama stated passionately.

In the video, Joe Biden cheered their 2008 win as a night of tremendous forward progress.

Obama’s endorsement of Joe Biden signals a sharp divergence from some Democrats who want Biden to forgo re-election and hand over power to younger leaders, for fear he may lose to Donald Trump. As the Hill reported Sunday:

“Obama’s former senior advisor David Axelrod recently suggested President Biden bow out of the 2024 race after a poll showed him lagging behind former President Trump.”

“Citing a New York Times/Siena College poll, Axelrod wrote online that it was “very late to change candidates” despite Biden’s team insisting he intends to run.”

“Axelrod said Biden should feel “rightly proud of his accomplishments,” yet his poll numbers will “send tremors of uncertainty” through the Democratic Party, sparking legitimate worry.”

Last month, comedian Bill Maher urged Biden to abandon his 2024 reelection bid, fearing damage to his legacy – much like when Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg declined retirement under Obama.

“Someone must tell President Biden that running again hands the nation back to Trump, making him Ruth Bader Biden – refusing to quit, thus doing grave harm to party and country,” Maher said.

Even loyal Never-Trumpers like Bill Kristol have asked Biden to step aside, arguing it’s time for “personal sacrifice” and to “pass the torch” to a new generation by announcing he won’t run in 2024.
