During a rally in Las Vegas on October 28, 2023, former Vice President Mike Pence declared he was calling off his presidential candidacy.
According to a story from The Associated Press, Pence said at a Republican Jewish Coalition meeting in Las Vegas, ” Following much prayer and thought, I have made the decision to suspend my candidacy for president beginning today. We knew this was going to be hard, but I don’t feel bad about what I did.”
Pence was the fifth Republican presidential candidate to drop out of the race. The others were Francis Suarez, mayor of Miami, Will Hurd, former congressman from Texas, Perry Johnson, a businessman from Michigan, and conservative radio presenter Larry Elder.
The candidate for president raised $1.2 million in his first quarter of fundraising. He is a past vice president. According to the information he gave to the Federal Election Commission, Pence raised $1.1 million in the second quarter. To end the third quarter of fundraising, Pence had $3.2 million in cash on hand. He had raised $3.4 million during the quarter.
