Donald Trump’s Numbers Reach Landslide Levels

Today, Morning Consult released the results of its latest Republican primary tracker poll, which shows that former President Trump still has a 49-point advantage over his closest rival, Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL).

Sixty-one percent of prospective Republican primary voters back Trump for the nomination, according to a study released this week. “In the past few days, the former president reached 63%, setting an all-time high since the tracking process started in December,” said Eli Yokley, a U.S. politics expert at Morning Consult. However, the number is not shown in Morning Consult’s image.

Finding himself in second place with 12% support, DeSantis is 1% behind where he was in last week’s Morning Consult poll. In a tweet this week, Trump said that DeSantis was like “a hurt bird falling out of the sky.”

“He’s going to run out of money and withdraw from the presidential race very soon,” Trump wrote. “It truly has been something beautiful to watch since I got him elected Governor all by myself, without any thanks or praise. Best of luck, Ron!”

Vivek Ramaswamy, an entrepreneur, has moved up two points since this past week and now has nine percent of the vote, putting him in third place. Yokley says that Ramaswamy is the second choice for almost twenty percent of people who might vote Republican.

It looks like 6% of people who answered the poll support former Governor Nikki Haley (R-SC), while 5% support former VP Mike Pence. After that, 3% would vote for former Governor Chris Christie (R-NJ), 2% would vote for Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), and 1% would vote for Governor Doug Burgum (R-ND).

Former Governor Asa Hutchinson (R-AR) along with former Representative Will Hurd (R-TX), the remaining two on the list, did not get a point. Breitbart News reported that Hurd dropped out of the race this week.

Between October 6 to October 8, Morning Consult polled 3,636 possible GOP primary voters. You can get an unweighted range of error of two percentage points, give or take.
